The programs from the Government of India like Farm loan waiver scheme and NREGA have been repeatedly credited with saving India from sliding into the clutches of recession. This credit is bestowed because these schemes infused large amount of money. Really large sums into the consumers who needed it to immediately spend it. Not the middle class who would have added it to their savings for the more difficult times but where it started circulting back into the money system immediately.
So, it feels really nice to see articles like 'LETTER FROM INDIA Smart Step to Help India's Rural Poor'. The ever sceptical developed countries acknowledgeing the good, rather revolutionary work being done.
